I’ve always wanted a blog; a place to air my thoughts and ramblings, to rant or jump on my soap box. But now that I have one; after years of studying and practicing mindfulness, positive thinking and meditation, I find that I have less to say. And I find that the silence is golden.
Some of us speak just to be heard or validated. Others speak to avoid really listening or participating. What is comes down to is that mom was right all along – “if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all”. Pay attention to how you feel if you only say positive things or refrain from saying negative things. Implement the rule that if you wouldn’t say it in certain company (i.e. in front of the person you are talking about) then don’t say anything at all.
Buddha agrees…”silence enables you to deeply listen to your environment. This includes the words as well as the subtler, unspoken message from other people”.
And I truly believe karma prevails. Say nothing. You don’t have to. The fools will say enough themselves.
